DEALING WITH OILY SKIN IN THE SUMMER

The beautiful season of the year, Summer, is here and along side with comes the sweltering heat and humidity. However for those with oily skin, summer is a major worry as you will notice that there is an elevated inclination for your skin to produce more oil than usual. It is great to shine in Summer but greasy?? No way!!!

You just need to adjust your skincare slightly so as to take care of your skin better. Of course the number 1 tip is to keep your skin clean at all times using a mild soap cleanser i.e Cetaphil. As much as you want to rush off to wash your face each time it gets greasy, do bear in mind not to over cleanse your skin. It can cause dryness and further aggravate the skin by causing breakouts.

Tip: When cleansing, it is recommended to let the cleaner sit on your skin for a few seconds before rinsing it off.

This is the time that you have to go very light on your makeup as well so that the heavy foundations does not clog your pores and there will a tendency for your make up to melt. Instead of using your normal liquid foundation (i.e ensure that it is oil free/waterbased for oily skintype), you may opt for oil free tinted moisturiser. This gives you a nice sheer coverage without being too heavy.

If you have greasy lids and you notice your eyeshadow creasing and fading off, try using an eye primer first. An eye primer creates a base and helps your eyeshadow to last throughout the day. ( Try Mary Kay® Eye Primer )

Most important, do not forget to apply non-comedogenic and oil free moisturisers that contains SPF to protect you against UVA/UVB rays. (Try TimeWise® Age-Fighting Moisturizer Sunscreen SPF 15*)

Carry a packet of Simple's Clear Skin Oil Balancing Cleansing wipes each time you go outdoors, they are an absolute life savers. If you are working indoors, Clean and Clear's Oil Absorbing Sheets comes in handy to blot away the excess oil.

But I will share with you another tip to tackle the oily skin for this summer that you can invent right from your home.

(1)First you need a spray bottle

(2) Fill it in with

  • 1 part of distilled
  • 2 parts Witch Hazel
  • 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil

(Witch Hazel and Tea Tree Oil is available in drugstores or bodyshop)

(3) You are ready to use it... simply spray it onto your facial cotton pad and go ahead to wipe away that oil!!!
